What you need in the wilderness is a tool you can rely on, that does a variety of jobs and is safe to use. With this criteria the tool was designed. In all my military time I required a tool that would cut efficiently from saplings to mature trees. I needed to prepare game and feather wood for kindling. I required a tool to dig holes and construct trap shelters and rafts. It must also hold its edge and be easy to sharpen.
These were the parameters that I laid down and with the expertise of Ivan Williams the tool was created. It was field tested by myself in the jungles of Nepal and surpassed all my expectations.
This tool has been designed to carry out tough and arduous tasks with great efficiency. It is sufficiently well balanced to make more arduous tasks surprisingly easy. The handle is molded and fits the hand so comfortably that it can be used for extensive periods with ease. The blade is carved to give maximum cutting ability with the minimum of effort and ground to a razor edge that is easily maintained. The steel used in manufacture will bend rather than snap. A broken knife in some situations could be rather annoying!!
The tool is made entirely in England. The materials and methods of manufacture are well tried and tested. The Blade handle and bolster are drop forged in one blow from a billet of hardened steel traditionally used in the manufacture of agricultural cutting tools of all kinds. This steel will take shock, holds and excellent edge and is reasonably easy to sharpen.
Once the knife is forged, clipped and hand ground it is oil hardened. The bonding of the tough rubber handle, sand blasting and final honing of the edge completes the process. Fitted into its purpose designed leather or strengthened cordura sheath it is safe and ready for use.
